Biodiesel Production From Rapeseed Oil With Waste Frying Oils
نویسندگان
چکیده
Biodiesel or fatty acids alkyl esters (FAAE) of long chain are an alternative fuel produced by a transesterification process. The potential production of biodiesel from rapeseed oil in Chile is associated to the solution of economic, environmental and social problems. Experiences from other countries have demonstrated that biodiesel prices are higher than diesel, due to the high costs of the raw materials (oils) and high plant capacity needed. Recycling of waste frying oils (WFO) offers a significant potential as low-cost raw material for biodiesel production. Therefore, the use of rapeseed oil with a percentage of WFO is an alternative that could minimize biodiesel production costs. The main objective of this study was to analyze different alternatives to produce biodiesel from Brassica napus oil mixed with WFO.

Different techniques for the production of biodiesel from waste vegetable oil
The production of biodiesel from waste vegetable oil offers a triple-facet solution: economic, environmental and waste management. The new process technologies developed during the last years made it possible to produce biodiesel from recycled frying oils comparable in quality to that of virgin vegetable oil biodiesel with an added attractive advantage of being lower in price. Thus, biodiesel p...

Fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) or biodiesel is a biofuel conventionally produced from edible oil and methanol, using an alkaline catalyst, through a transesterification reaction. As FAME is mostly produced from edible vegetable oils, crop soils are used for its production, increasing deforestation and producing a fuel more expensive than diesel. In addition, between 70 and 80% of the total FAME...
